Booking confirmed

Your place is booked

Thank you for booking. Stripe has emailed your receipt, and James will email your joining details within two working days: the timetable, the video link or venue, and the digital workbook.

Bookings close seven days before each course, when James emails everyone to confirm that it is going ahead. To change anything, email james@lightning-oak.co.uk.

This page is about training and is not a support line. If you need help now, call Samaritans free on 116 123, day or night.

Step by step

From booking to certificate

Every open course follows the same path from booking to certificate, and each step below says what happens and when. Organisations booking for their own people follow it too, except that James agrees the date and the fee with them in writing first and Lightning Oak sends an invoice.

At booking

Payment and receipt by email

Each place is booked from its date on the course page, and Stripe takes the payment and emails a receipt straight away, with the booking terms linked at checkout and a phone number asked for the day. A printed workbook can be added when booking, at least two weeks ahead, for £2.40 on the half day or £3.00 on the full day.

Within two days

Joining details and the workbook

James emails the joining details within two working days: the timetable, the venue or video link, and the digital workbook, which learners keep for future reference. The email also suggests thinking beforehand of someone they could talk to after the course.

A week before

The date is confirmed by email

Bookings close seven days before each date, when James emails everyone to confirm that it is going ahead. A course runs once six places are booked, or eight for the half day. If it cannot run, each person chooses a full refund or another date.

On the day

Taking part safely, start to finish

Learners join for the whole course, in person or online with the camera on where they can, ideally from a quiet, private space. James agrees ground rules with the group at the start. Nobody is asked to share their own experience, and anyone can step out at any point.

Afterwards

Certificate, then the next step

Everyone who attends the whole course and completes the feedback form receives a certificate of attendance by email. After the one-day course, anyone who wants a qualification can register for the Royal Society for Public Health Level 4 Award, paid separately.
